The Indian state of Telangana is going to sign memorandum of understandings (MoUs) with blockchain players to adopt the technology in some government applications, the Press Trust of India reported.
The state governments of Telangana and Goa, and the government think-tank National Institution for Transforming India, along with blockchain startup Nucleus Vision, are going to co-host International Blockchain Congress in August. During a press conference, Telangana’s IT and Industries Secretary Jayesh Ranjan said:
"We are planning to implement Blockchain Technologies in six or seven government applications. We will be signing MoUs with a few companies in the upcoming International Blockchain Congress to be held next month.”
Ranjan said that the objective is to bring more transparency and efficient service to the people. However, he declined to reveal the areas in which the government is planning to implement the technology.
The conference is going to be one of the largest blockchain conferences in the country with over 3,000 participants. Abhishek Pitti, CEO of Nucleus Vision and orgainser of the event, said that Telangana Minister for IT and Industries KT Ramarao, Goa IT minister Rohan Khunte, NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant would be among the guests at the event.
