Binance co-founder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao, known as "CZ," revealed his dog’s name, igniting a meme coin frenzy. CZ announced on X (formerly Twitter) that his 18-month-old Belgian Malinois is named Broccoli. The dog’s name, starting with 'B' and inspired by its green theme and a nod to "blockchain," led to the rapid creation of Broccoli-themed tokens.
Before the reveal, speculators drove multiple “CZ’s Dog” tokens like CLEO, BROWNIE, and PERRY to multi-million-dollar market caps on the BNB Chain. However, these tokens crashed once CZ disclosed the real name. Following the announcement, Broccoli-themed tokens flooded the BNB Chain via the Four.meme launchpad, briefly crashing the platform due to demand.
The top Broccoli token surged to a $400 million market cap before settling around $74 million, generating $220 million in volume within two hours. According to DEXScreener, 11 wallets secured over $1 million in profits. Solana also saw a wave of Broccoli coins, with the leading token reaching a $5 million market cap and $56 million in trading volume.
CZ clarified that no “official” Broccoli token exists and encouraged the community to decide the winner. Meanwhile, BNB Chain trading volumes soared 168% in a week, fueled by meme coin hype. This follows a recent spike from CZ's "test" (TST) meme coin tutorial, which briefly hit a $500 million market cap after being listed on Binance.
The frenzy highlights growing interest in meme coins and BNB Chain’s expanding influence. Traders remain eager for quick gains from viral trends, driving speculative activity across major blockchain networks.
