Cryptocurrency Leverage Market: 272,878 Traders Liquidated, $1.16 Trillion Cleared in a Day

Over the past 24 hours, leveraged cryptocurrency positions worth $810.35 million were liquidated.

As of 9:20 a.m. on the 21st, data from CoinGlass reveals that 272,878 traders experienced liquidations totaling $810.35 million. Of this, $544.75 million (67%) were long positions, while $265.60 million were short positions.

In the last 12 hours, liquidations amounted to $451.95 million, with 73% being long positions. Over the previous 4 hours, $55.78 million in positions were liquidated, with long positions accounting for 79%.

Bitcoin positions experienced the highest liquidation volume, totaling $352.70 million (44%) within the day. Long positions made up $213.04 million or 60% of this amount.

Ethereum positions followed, with $97.43 million (12%) liquidated, of which long positions accounted for $60.16 million or 62%. Other cryptocurrencies recorded $85.30 million (long) in liquidations, while TRUMP token positions saw $60.36 million (long) cleared.

The largest single liquidation occurred on Binance, where a BTCUSDT position worth $12.54 million was forcibly closed.

Among exchanges, Binance led in liquidation volumes with $236.84 million (29.23%), of which 68.46% were long positions. OKX followed with $164.59 million (20.31%, 63.29% long), and Bybit ranked third with $142.15 million (17.54%, 75.2% long).

In derivatives markets, “liquidation” refers to the forced closure of a position when losses exhaust the trader’s margin due to market movements against the position.

As of 9:20 a.m. on the 21st, Bitcoin was trading at $101,774, up 0.34%, while Ethereum rose 1.67% to $3,264.00, according to CoinMarketCap.
