The XRP Ledger Ethereum Virtual Machine (XRPL EVM) sidechain is preparing for another major upgrade as developers focus on strengthening the network’s security, resilience, and long-term reliability. Peersyst, one of the key contributors to the project, recently shared on X that the upcoming XRPL EVM v11 release will prioritize enhanced economic security, safer cross-chain connectivity, improved validator management, and additional infrastructure hardening.

According to Peersyst, a proposal for the XRPL EVM v11 Testnet could be introduced as early as this week, with the Mainnet upgrade expected to follow after successful testing. The update builds on the continued development of the XRPL EVM sidechain, which officially launched on Mainnet in June 2025 as part of the XRP Ledger’s broader multichain strategy.

Unlike many blockchain upgrades that focus on adding user-facing features, v11 is designed to reinforce the network’s underlying architecture. While developers and end users are unlikely to notice major interface changes, the improvements are intended to make the ecosystem more secure, stable, and easier to maintain over the long term.

The XRPL EVM v11 release introduces enhancements across validator operations, cross-chain infrastructure, and internal security mechanisms. The upgrade places a strong emphasis on reducing potential attack vectors, strengthening the validator framework, and improving the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) layer to support safer interoperability between blockchain networks.

The XRPL EVM sidechain operates using a Proof-of-Authority (PoA) consensus model, where validator participation is controlled by a designated authority instead of an open staking mechanism. As part of the v11 update, the standard process for creating new validators after launch will be disabled, ensuring that no validator can join the network outside the approved authority. At the same time, existing validators will gain the ability to voluntarily remove themselves from the validator set without requiring intervention from the governing authority.

Peersyst also highlighted that the XRPL EVM now benefits from an ongoing AI-assisted security audit process. Version 11 marks the first release to fully incorporate this continuous auditing framework from development through deployment, helping identify vulnerabilities earlier and strengthening the overall security posture of the network.

The latest improvements further support Ripple’s vision of expanding the XRP Ledger into a multichain ecosystem. Earlier in June, the Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin was integrated with the XRPL EVM sidechain, extending the utility of Ripple’s stablecoin across Ethereum-compatible decentralized applications and smart contract environments.

With its focus on security, validator governance, cross-chain reliability, and operational resilience, the XRPL EVM v11upgrade represents another important milestone in the ongoing evolution of the XRP Ledger ecosystem, reinforcing its position as a secure and scalable platform for decentralized finance and blockchain interoperability.
