Crypto investment firm Blockstream Capital Partners (BCP) announced plans to acquire Corbiere Capital Management, a Jersey-based equities hedge fund launched in 2023 by veteran investor Rodrigo Rodriguez. While financial terms were not disclosed, the deal marks a strategic expansion for BCP as it strengthens its position in bitcoin-referenced investment products and broadens its reach into traditional markets.

BCP said the acquisition will integrate Corbiere’s equity and event-driven trading expertise into a new multi-strategy investment platform tailored for institutional investors. By combining conventional securities strategies with bitcoin-linked exposures, the firm aims to offer more diversified and resilient portfolio options as interest in digital assets continues to grow among global institutions.

Rodriguez, who brings more than 25 years of experience in equity and event-driven strategies from roles at JPMorgan, Credit Suisse and BlueCrest—where he served as CIO—will become the chief investment officer of Blockstream Capital Management, a newly formed asset management division under BCP. Corbiere’s team will continue to focus on global equity markets, corporate actions and tactical trading opportunities.

BCP highlighted that the rise of bitcoin treasury companies and publicly listed firms holding bitcoin on their balance sheets is increasingly influencing equity valuations and market volatility. Understanding how bitcoin exposure intersects with traditional markets, the firm said, is now essential for sophisticated portfolio management.

Digital asset custodian Komainu—partly owned by BCP—will support the expanded platform through its Komainu Connect infrastructure, providing custody, exchange connectivity, collateral management and related operational services.

BCP, affiliated with Blockstream CEO Adam Back, invests across multiple asset classes including venture capital, public and private equity, credit, real estate and insurance, with an emphasis on Bitcoin-focused financial infrastructure and investment products. The acquisition aligns with its mission to build a leading institutional platform centered on bitcoin-referenced strategies while integrating seasoned investment teams capable of delivering alpha in evolving market conditions.
