MetaMask Expands Multi-Chain Strategy With Sei Blockchain Integration

MetaMask, the leading self-custodial Web3 wallet developed by Consensys, has integrated Sei, a high-performance Layer-1 blockchain, into its supported networks, deepening its multi-chain strategy and expanding access to decentralized applications (dApps) for its global user base.

With this move, MetaMask users can now interact directly with Sei-based dApps, tokens, and NFTs, and swap or bridge assets to the Sei network within their wallet. The integration also adds a dedicated Sei page in MetaMask Portfolio, showcasing its native ecosystem.

Sei, which launched Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility less than a year ago, has seen rapid adoption, boasting over 4.2 million daily transactions, $600 million in total value locked (TVL), and 11 million monthly active users, according to on-chain data.

“This integration eliminates long-standing friction in cross-chain interoperability,” said Consensys in a statement. “MetaMask users can now explore Sei’s growing ecosystem with fewer steps and greater security.”

The addition of Sei brings MetaMask’s total number of supported chains to 11. It reflects the wallet’s broader goal of building a unified interface for managing crypto assets across disparate blockchain networks. With over 100 million users worldwide, MetaMask's support significantly boosts exposure for the Sei ecosystem.

“Expanding MetaMask to support emerging networks like Sei is about solving real problems for users,” said Gal Eldar, Global Product Lead at MetaMask. “Web3 is moving toward a multi-chain reality, and users shouldn’t have to wrestle with multiple wallets or complex bridges.”

Sei’s blockchain is designed for speed and scalability, tailored to high-frequency decentralized finance and gaming applications. Backed by investors including Multicoin Capital, Jump Crypto, and Coinbase Ventures, Sei plans to further scale with its upcoming "Giga" upgrade, aimed at enhancing Ethereum interoperability.

“MetaMask’s integration opens Sei’s high-performance blockchain infrastructure to over 100 million users,” said Justin Barlow, Executive Director at the Sei Development Foundation. “It represents a key milestone in building the leading high-performance EVM ecosystem.”

The announcement underscores both Consensys’ and Sei’s commitment to simplifying Web3 access while reducing the complexity of multi-chain asset management.
