Strategy (MSTR), the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin (BTC), has expanded its cryptocurrency reserves with a massive $2.4 billion purchase. The company funded the acquisition through its newly issued preferred stock, STRC, nicknamed “stretch,” according to a statement released Tuesday.

Initially planning to raise $500 million, Strategy sold nearly $2.5 billion worth of STRC to investors, significantly surpassing expectations. The preferred stock offers a regular dividend starting at 9% and is set to begin trading on Nasdaq this Wednesday.

With the proceeds, Strategy acquired 21,021 BTC at an average price of $117,256, increasing its total holdings to 628,791 BTC — valued at nearly $74 billion at current market prices around $117,700 per coin. This purchase cements Strategy’s position as the world’s largest publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holder, far exceeding other institutional investors.

The move underscores the company’s aggressive long-term bullish stance on Bitcoin amid rising institutional adoption and growing investor appetite for crypto-backed financial instruments. By leveraging preferred stock rather than traditional debt, Strategy is diversifying its capital-raising approach while maintaining its Bitcoin accumulation strategy.

As Bitcoin continues to hover near all-time highs, Strategy’s latest purchase signals confidence in continued upward momentum and reinforces the trend of corporations integrating digital assets into their treasury strategies. The market will closely watch STRC’s debut on Nasdaq and its potential to attract yield-seeking investors interested in crypto exposure without directly holding Bitcoin.

This development could further solidify Bitcoin’s role as a mainstream treasury asset, highlighting its growing importance in corporate finance and institutional portfolios.
