The Ethereum Foundation (EF) has appointed Hsiao-Wei Wang and Tomasz Stańczak as its new co-executive directors, following Aya Miyaguchi’s transition to EF president. The leadership changes come amid growing criticism of EF’s role in the Ethereum ecosystem, with some blaming its leadership for ETH’s underperformance against competitors like Solana.
Wang, who has been with EF since 2017, contributed to research on sharding and played a key role in Ethereum’s major upgrade, “the Merge.” Stańczak is the founder of Nethermind, one of Ethereum’s leading software clients. EF emphasized the need for Ethereum to evolve from an early-stage project to a resilient, permissionless financial and software infrastructure.
Meanwhile, former EF researcher Danny Ryan announced his move to Etherealize, a firm focused on integrating Ethereum with Wall Street. Founded by ex-banker Vivek Raman, Etherealize aims to position ETH as a key institutional asset. Ryan expressed his commitment to building a new Ethereum institution with "Real World Ethereum" as its guiding principle.
As Ethereum navigates critical transitions, these leadership changes could shape its future in the evolving blockchain landscape.
