The laser-eyed social media posts by U.S. President Joe Biden following the Super Bowl typically garner attention within online Bitcoin communities. However, his recent meme did not revolve around the cryptocurrency.

United States President Joe Biden has unwittingly assumed the role of a Bitcoin (BTC) ambassador following his recent social media post adorned with laser-eyed imagery on his Twitter and Instagram profiles.

Meme Behind the Laser Eyes

Accompanied by the caption "just like we drew it up," Biden's post was made to celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs' victory over the San Francisco 49ers in the 2024 Super Bowl.

While many crypto enthusiasts initially perceived Biden's adoption of the laser-eye profile picture as a direct reference to or endorsement of Bitcoin, it stems from the "Dark Brandon" meme.

This meme alludes to the conspiracy theory suggesting that the Super Bowl outcome was predetermined to ensure a win for Taylor Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce's team, facilitating Swift's subsequent endorsement of Biden for president.

The president's social media team has previously utilized the Dark Brandon meme to cultivate a perception of Biden as trendy and bold. The post humorously implies Biden's involvement in orchestrating the team's victory.

Reactions from the Crypto Community

The crypto community swiftly reacted to Biden's meme. CryptoX pondered its potential implications for the ETH/BTC chart, while pseudonymous Twitter user WhalePanda subtly accused Biden of cultural appropriation.

According to Coin Telegraph, it's important to note that despite Biden's inadvertent nod to Bitcoin, he has not publicly endorsed any policies favoring cryptocurrency, making it highly improbable for him to endorse a specific crypto asset.

Laser Eyes Phenomenon and Other Notable Figures

The laser eyes trend, commonly associated with expressing optimism about Bitcoin's future price, emerged as part of a social media campaign to propel Bitcoin's price to $100,000 by the end of 2021, although this goal was not achieved.

According to Daily Mail, prominent personalities sporting laser eyes included NFL star Tom Brady, socialite Paris Hilton, and entrepreneur Elon Musk.

While Biden inadvertently acknowledged Bitcoin, Block CEO Jack Dorsey was spotted at the Super Bowl sporting a more direct reference to the digital asset. Dorsey donned a T-shirt featuring the likeness of Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, designed in the style of famous Nirvana album artwork.
