SHIB joins the list of cryptos accepted by travel website Travala

SHIB can now be used to pay for over 3 million travel products on the site, which include hotels, travel packages, and flights.

With the increasing use of crypto among travelers, Travala is expanding its payment options by adding support for a new coin into its platform. The travel website announced that it added support for the Shiba Inu cryptocurrency.

Crypto-friendly travel website Travala announced on Tuesday that SHIB can now be used to pay for over 3 million travel products on the site, which include hotels, travel packages, and flights. The company also congratulated Shiba Inu supporters for winning the token battle a few days ago.

“Congratulations to @Shibtoken for winning the token battle on Travala,” the company posted on Twitter. “$SHIB is now listed as a payment method on Travala.com to book over 3M travel products worldwide.”

On December 2, Travala set up a token battle between SHIB and FLOKI, where the crypto that gains the most votes after 72 hours to be listed on the Travala.com website, according to Bitcoin.com. “All users who vote for either token will receive a share of $15,000 in AVA, which will be dispersed in accordance with the votes cast,” the company added.

“We pride ourselves on being the leading cryptocurrency-friendly accommodation booking platform,” the company said on its website. Travala supports 77 cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), and Dogecoin.

Travala noted a dramatic rise in crypto payments on its platform. The company reported a 683 year-on-year surge in total revenue for November 2021 at $7.2 million, with 82 percent of bookings being paid using cryptocurrencies.

Adoption of the Shiba Inu crypto is on the rise recently. Crypto exchanges Gemini and Kraken added support for SHIB last month, Newegg will start accepting Shiba Inu for payments this month, and AMC said it will accept the crypto by the first quarter of 2022.

Shiba Inu owners have been petitioning for the token’s inclusion in Robinhood. In fact, supporters have already gathered more than 500,000 signatures at the time of writing.
