PUBLISH Inc., a blockchain-based media solutions company, has announced that decentralized content ecosystem Contentos has joined PUBLISHalliance, the media enterprise consortium responsible for the future direction and governance of the PUBLISH ecosystem.
Backed by Binance Labs, IDG Capital and others, Contentos aims to create a decentralized content ecosystem, where assets can be freely produced, authenticated, and distributed. It incentivizes the global community of content creators to produce, trade, and distribute digital content, while protecting author rights, which are stored on a public blockchain.
On September 25, Contentos launched its mainnet v1.0 “Home Planet”. In a blog post detailing the launch, the company said that Contentos Chain is a blockchain specially crafted for the content industry.
“We look forward to working with Contentos and leveraging its expertise in applying blockchain technology to copyright, which is an area PUBLISH is actively looking into,” said Jean-Luc Leese, CIO of PUBLISH.
South Korea-based PUBLISH has launched PUBLISHprotocol, a blockchain-powered open-source protocol that aims to facilitate a participatory mode of news production and consumption, and PUBLISHsoft, a blockchain-based content management system and end-to-end publishing system enabling publishers to issue their own PUBLISHprotocol-based cryptographic token.
The company is spearheading PUBLISHalliance, which is tasked with the development and proliferation of PUBLISHprotocol. Contentos is among one of the latest organizations to join the consortium, which now counts close to 60 media-related organizations already using or considering the use of blockchain technology. More recently, PUBLISHalliance welcomed Al Bawaba, a digital news website covering events in the Middle East and North Africa regions.
In August, PUBLISH rolled out an ‘onchain’ news article notarization service in beta.
“Currently, PUBLISH offers publishers using its content management system the option of publishing news articles to an EOSIO testnet. In the future, however, we want to be blockchain agnostic and allow publishers to easily publish content to one or more blockchains of their choice, including the EOSIO and FLO blockchains, among others,” Leese added.
Last week, PUBLISH announced that its native token ‘NEWS’ is now listed on CoinMarketCap, a provider of price and market cap data for cryptocurrencies.
