David Schwartz Joins XRP Ledger Foundation Honorary Board

The XRP Ledger Foundation has officially welcomed David Schwartz, one of the original architects of the XRP Ledger, as an Honorary Board Member. The announcement was made through the foundation’s official X account, highlighting Schwartz’s deep involvement in the development and long-term growth of the XRP Ledger ecosystem.

The non-profit organization praised Schwartz for his technical expertise and years of experience working on blockchain infrastructure. According to the foundation, his appointment will strengthen the group’s technical leadership and support future innovation within the XRP Ledger network. As Ripple’s CTO Emeritus and a respected figure in the crypto industry, Schwartz is expected to provide valuable guidance on protocol upgrades, validator operations, and ecosystem development.

The XRP Ledger Foundation emphasized that Schwartz’s knowledge and historical connection to the project make him an important addition to the organization. The foundation also noted that his role will help improve technical stewardship and encourage continued decentralization efforts across the XRP Ledger community.

David Schwartz helped create the XRP Ledger in 2011 alongside Arthur Britto and Jed McCaleb. The blockchain was designed as a faster and more energy-efficient alternative to Bitcoin, focusing on low transaction costs and scalability. Over the years, Schwartz has remained active within the crypto community, frequently engaging with developers and XRP supporters on social media.

Although many associate Ripple closely with XRP, the XRP Ledger Foundation operates independently from Ripple. The organization focuses on maintaining core repositories, supporting developers, and managing a publisher Unique Node List (UNL) for validators to help secure the network.

The latest XRP news also follows recent recognition for Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, who reportedly received the “Business Leader of the Year” honor from Harvard Business School. Meanwhile, Schwartz recently pushed back against speculation surrounding extreme XRP price predictions and denied rumors of any secret Ripple-related plans.
