Bitcoin Holds Steady Above $106,000 Amid Investor Tension Over Lack of Trump Executive Orders

Bitcoin maintained its position above $106,000, buoyed by a weakening U.S. dollar and a rally in American equities, as investors balanced their optimism and uncertainty regarding President Donald Trump’s anticipated cryptocurrency policies.

On January 22, Cointelegraph reported that Bitcoin (BTC) rose 3.8% the previous day, reaching $107,240, partially recovering from recent losses. Although the price fell short of its all-time high of $109,588 recorded on January 20, market sentiment remained cautiously optimistic. While some investors expressed disappointment over the absence of crypto-related executive orders on Trump’s first day in office, many still held out hope for forthcoming policy announcements.

The cryptocurrency market’s positive momentum mirrored gains in the U.S. stock market. The S&P 500 climbed 1.21%, the Dow Jones rose 0.82%, and the Nasdaq 100 surged 2.79% by the close of trading. Analysts attributed these gains to optimism surrounding Trump’s pro-business economic agenda and a weaker U.S. Dollar Index (DXY), which retreated from its January 15 peak to hover slightly above 108. Although rising U.S. Treasury yields introduced some uncertainty into global financial markets, they also bolstered positive sentiment in both equity and cryptocurrency markets.

In addition, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced plans to establish a cryptocurrency task force aimed at overhauling digital asset regulations. Led by SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce and Acting Chair Mark Uyeda, the task force aims to restore investor confidence and create a more favorable environment for cryptocurrency adoption. Industry observers welcomed the initiative, viewing it as a step toward greater regulatory clarity and improved investment conditions.

As markets await further developments from the Trump administration, Bitcoin's ability to maintain its current levels will likely depend on how quickly these anticipated policies materialize and their perceived impact on the broader crypto ecosystem.
