A Crypto.com user has been unable to access his exchange account and funds for more than a week, raising concerns about centralized crypto exchange custody and customer support procedures.
On August 13, Bradley Peak received a “Successful Login” email from Crypto.com Exchange after his credentials were accepted. However, he was unable to enter the platform, while browser traffic reportedly showed a “401 Unauthorized” response.
Peak, who had used the Crypto.com Exchange for several years, said the problem emerged after he transferred funds using an established deposit setup. He received no suspension notice, document request, or explanation indicating that his account had been restricted.
Customer support subsequently provided conflicting information. One representative told Peak that his Exchange account had been “rejected” without explaining what the designation meant or when it was applied. Another agent later said there was no Exchange account associated with his email address, despite previous Crypto.com messages confirming the account and successful logins.
The issue was repeatedly escalated, but support provided no timeline for resolution.
Crypto.com declined to discuss the individual account, citing regulatory and legal obligations. The company said it may restrict accounts while conducting customer activity reviews and that its support team would continue communicating with the affected user. However, it did not confirm whether Peak’s account was undergoing such a review or provide a deadline for releasing his funds.
Following inquiries from BeInCrypto, Crypto.com requested an external wallet address from Peak to return the assets, but the transfer had not occurred as of August 21.
Similar complaints have appeared on Crypto.com’s public Reddit forum during 2026, including reports of blocked withdrawals, unauthorized login errors, and lengthy support escalations. These anonymous cases have not been independently verified and do not indicate how widespread such problems may be.
Crypto.com is registered with the UK Financial Conduct Authority under money-laundering regulations for certain cryptoasset activities. That registration, however, does not provide customers with the same protections available under broader financial authorization regimes.
As of August 21, Peak remained unable to access his funds and had received neither a firm resolution date nor an account-specific explanation.
