France appears to be upping its game to actively look into the application of blockchain technology in the financial sector. The most recent development on this front came from Banque de France, the country’s central bank.

Banque de France is currently looking for an analyst that’s well-versed in crypto-economics, game theory, and public or private blockchain. The candidate needs to be proficient in Corda, Quorum, and Hyperledger for the private blockchain experience, while deep understanding of bitcoin and the ethereum network falls as experience in public blockchain.

The analyst will be tasked to research various aspects of the technology’s impact on the financial sector, as well as participate with other blockchain initiatives to keep up with the evolving innovation. In addition, the candidate will be looking as to how regulatory framework will take shape based on economic issues, CoinDesk reported.

France trying to keep up with the evolving financial market

Aside from the analyst, the bank is also looking for a development engineer that will identify new applications of blockchain technology in the financial sector. France’s desire to research blockchain technology comes in the wake of renewed interest in the space, with several governments clamoring to adopt the innovation in varying degrees.

Bruno Le Maire, France’s Minister of the Economy and Finance, urged the European Union (EU) in September to develop a “public digital currency,” which likely means the central bank digital currency (CBDC). Meanwhile, France is also trying to educate its citizens on blockchain technology starting at the high school level, CCN reported.

More crypto experts needed by various industries

The lectures will only be an introductory course that is geared towards building the foundational knowledge needed to understand the underlying technology that’s driving cryptocurrency. Students will be learning about the relationship between trust and fiat, which will then transition where Bitcoin gets its value.

This initiative is France’s attempt to create crypto experts in the future, which is lacking at the moment. In a study released by Seen by Indeed, the demand for crypto professionals has been increasing due to private and government sectors launching blockchain initiatives. With France starting at the high school level, it is ensuring that a lot of young citizens is exposed to these emerging technology that could spark interest in pursuing jobs in this field.
