The foundation will keep its staking-reward extension through January 2028 in place, while usage-based fees remain possible.

The Algorand Foundation said it will indefinitely pause Project King Safety, a roadmap that included removing the supply cap on Algorand’s ALGO token, while maintaining its commitment to extend staking rewards through January 2028.

Removing the cap, funding incentives through inflation, enabling and capturing maximal extractable value (MEV), and raising minimum transaction fees are currently not under consideration. The foundation said it may still introduce or adjust usage-based fees, including charges for Falcon-1024 post-quantum account-signature transactions.

Algorand added native Falcon-1024 accounts to mainnet in an August upgrade as part of its post-quantum security work.

On Friday, Nov. 6, the foundation closed the Algorand forum while retaining a read-only archive, ended its company-operated Ecosystem Advisory Committee and stopped sponsoring the Algorand Technical Committee.

The foundation’s new leadership plans to build a sustainable, revenue-generating network model and extend its post-quantum security capabilities to custodians, wallets, issuers and other networks across Web3 and digital assets. It plans to suspend the xGov grants program indefinitely starting Dec. 6.
