Cisco and OpenAI are combining Cisco’s network intelligence with OpenAI models to help enterprise security teams detect threats by connecting activity across multiple signals.

The announcement provided no numerical results for detection speed or remediation.

The approach pairs security telemetry with observability data to help defenders assess whether activity reflects malicious interference or an autonomous agent pursuing a legitimate goal in an unintended way. Considering both kinds of information is meant to give teams context for interpreting activity that may otherwise be difficult to assess.

Cisco President and Chief Product Officer Jeetu Patel described the approach as operating at “machine speed and scale.”

The deployment is supported by OpenAI’s enterprise privacy approach, which includes zero data retention, customer-data boundaries and isolation. These are described as elements of the privacy approach supporting the deployment, rather than confirmed configuration details specific to Cisco.

The announcement described the security benefits qualitatively and gave no numerical performance results for detection or remediation.
