DTCC has launched a securities tokenization service supporting 34 securities, bringing blockchain-based transfers into U.S. market infrastructure for stocks, exchange-traded funds and U.S. Treasurys held in DTC custody.

The opening roster covers selected large Russell 1000 companies, exchange-traded funds and U.S. Treasurys. The tokens represent underlying securities held by The Depository Trust Company (DTC), with each token backed one-to-one and carrying the same legal and ownership rights as the security.

Transfers can take place around the clock between wallets registered with DTC. The service initially supports Canton Network and a DTCC private network built on Besu, allowing tokenized representations to move on-chain while their underlying securities remain held in the depository.

DTCC is a U.S. securities depository and clearing organization, and the service brings digital-asset infrastructure into its existing market operations. The initial lineup spans company shares, fund shares and government debt, rather than a single securities category. Stellar and Circle's Arc are expected to join the service in 2027.
