Stacks’ Bitcoin Staking Total Reaches 735 BTC Across Two Bonding Periods
Bonding Period 2 added 505 BTC after Q3 closed, with 483 BTC supplied through Stacking DAO’s liquid staking route.

Stacks’ Bitcoin Staking program recorded about 735 Bitcoin (BTC) across its first two bonding periods, but the tally spans Q3 and October because the second period opened Oct. 8, after the quarter ended.
At quarter-end, the Genesis Bond had 230 BTC bonded. Bonding Period 2 added 505 BTC, bringing the combined amount to about 735 BTC. Stacking DAO supplied 483 BTC of the second period through liquid staking. Participants receive stBTC, a token representing staked BTC that can be used in applications on Stacks.
The Genesis Bond figure was 250 BTC at launch on Sept. 10 and 230 BTC at quarter-end; the 735 BTC total uses the quarter-end figure. The first bond included 21shares, HashKey Cloud, UTXO Management and Sypher Capital.
The bonding structure pairs BTC timelocked on Bitcoin’s base layer with the Stacks token (STX) locked on the Stacks network as staking capacity. Stacks’ Proof of Transfer (PoX) system uses BTC bids from miners to produce rewards. The PoX-5 upgrade, which introduced protocol bonds, activated July 30, 2026, at Bitcoin block 960,230.
Staked STX reached 448 million at Q3’s end, up from 392 million after the PoX-5 hard fork, then rose to 493 million after Bonding Period 2. The second period has a 3% yield target paid in BTC. Separately, the current estimated yield for stBTC is 2.3%; the figures describe different measures.
