Aztec Relaunches Privacy-Focused zk.money Wallet on Ethereum Layer 2
The self-custodial wallet supports privacy-encrypted payments without publishing balances, payment amounts or counterparties on the public ledger.
Aztec Labs has relaunched zk.money, a self-custodial wallet for privacy-encrypted payments on Aztec Network, an Ethereum Layer 2 focused on privacy features.
Unlike standard Ethereum wallets, zk.money does not publish users’ balances, payment amounts or transaction counterparties on the public ledger.
The original version launched in 2021 and was discontinued in 2023. It had more than 75,000 unique user addresses and processed more than $100 million in total transactions.
The early system was difficult to scale and could not support global-scale applications.
The relaunched wallet now runs on Aztec Network.
