Iran’s top national security official said Oct. 11 that the United States’ response to Tehran’s latest proposal was insufficient, leaving unresolved issues in the diplomatic exchange.

The official said the United States had accepted some of Iran’s conditions but had not clarified other points. Iran wants Washington to address those remaining questions before the proposal can move forward.

The comments indicate that the latest exchange has not resolved the differences between the two sides.

The next step is for the United States to clarify the points Iran says remain unsettled.
