Bitcoin (BTC) traded at $81,333.65 at 9:12 p.m. ET Thursday (01:12 UTC Friday), down 3.9% over 24 hours as U.S. equities and chip shares declined.

The Nasdaq Composite fell 2.6% and the S&P 500 dropped 1.2% at the 4 p.m. ET close (20:00 UTC). The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index slid 6.8%, a sharper decline than either benchmark.

Brent crude reached $113.17 a barrel Thursday, up 4%, as uncertainty surrounding the Iran war kept oil supply risks in focus.

Investors were concerned about the cost of financing data centers and buying AI chips. Meta narrowed its 2026 capital expenditure range, including finance-lease principal payments, to $135 billion to $145 billion from $130 billion to $145 billion. Its shares fell 7% Thursday after quarterly results, even as revenue exceeded analyst expectations.

The pressure was concentrated in technology: about two-thirds of S&P 500 stocks finished higher, but declines among large technology companies outweighed those gains.
