Bitcoin and Ether fell sharply during the latest crypto-market selloff, triggering $1.19 billion in liquidations over 24 hours and pressuring nearly 193,000 traders.

Bitcoin briefly broke below $80,500 during the downturn before recovering above $81,500. Ether also slid toward $2,400 and later rebounded to around $2,480.

The liquidation total covered 192,966 traders. The largest single event was a $19.98 million liquidation on Hyperliquid’s Ether-USD market.

The selloff unfolded late Oct. 8 in Taipei, during the morning of Oct. 8 ET (UTC−4), while the rebound emerged on Oct. 9 in Asia. The sharp moves left volatility elevated across leveraged crypto derivatives markets.
