Bitcoin Rises Above $84,000 After U.S. PCE Data Release

Bitcoin briefly gained 0.6% to $84,305 as August core PCE inflation came in at 3% year over year, below the 3.3% forecast.

Bitcoin (BTC) rose above $84,000 on Sept. 30 after the release of U.S. personal consumption expenditures data, briefly gaining 0.6% to reach $84,305.

August core PCE inflation, which excludes food and energy, was 3% from a year earlier, below the 3.3% forecast. The figure marked a six-month low, while the prior reading was revised from 3.30% to 3%.

Other markets also moved after the data. Spot gold gained $14 to $4,205 per ounce, while spot silver rose $0.36 to $61.36. The U.S. dollar index fell 15 basis points to 101.05.

The market moves followed the Sept. 30 release of the August inflation figures.
