Crypto markets face a packed macroeconomic calendar this week, with interest-rate decisions from the Federal Reserve, Bank of England and Bank of Japan likely to drive volatility across Bitcoin and other digital assets.

The Federal Reserve takes center stage on Sept. 16, with markets expecting policymakers to raise the benchmark rate to 4.00% from 3.75%. The decision arrives at 2 p.m. ET, followed by Fed Chair Kevin Warsh’s press conference and the updated Summary of Economic Projections, including the closely watched “Dot Plot.”

Earlier Wednesday, investors will receive U.S. August retail sales, forecast to rise 0.8% month over month after falling 0.6% previously. Retail sales excluding autos are expected to increase 0.5%, while import prices are projected to climb 0.2%.

The Bank of England follows on Sept. 17, with rates expected to remain unchanged at 3.75%. U.S. initial jobless claims, continuing claims and the Philadelphia Fed Manufacturing Index will also be released Thursday.

Attention then shifts to Japan on Sept. 18. The Bank of Japan is expected to raise its policy rate to 1.25% from 1.00%, potentially creating another major catalyst for global markets and crypto. U.S. industrial production data will arrive later Friday.

Crypto-specific events could add further volatility. The U.S. Senate returns from its summer recess and is expected to schedule a procedural cloture vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act on Sept. 15.

Token supply will also be in focus. Connex is scheduled to unlock 1.32% of its circulating supply, valued at $12.35 million, while Arbitrum will release 1.39% of circulating ARB, worth about $12.39 million, on Sept. 15.

Governance activity includes votes involving Hermes Protocol, Arbitrum DAO and Cratos DAO, with proposals covering protocol parameters, ecosystem grant disputes and user reward distribution.

The European Blockchain Convention will take place in Barcelona on Sept. 16-17, while DigiAssets Connect is scheduled for Sept. 16 in Amsterdam, rounding out a potentially volatile week for digital asset markets.
