The XRP Ledger (XRPL) is preparing for its next major software upgrade, with RippleX Head of Product Jazzi Copper revealing five proposed amendments expected to be included in the upcoming xrpld 3.3.0 release. While the software is anticipated to launch next week, the new features will only become active after receiving approval from XRPL validators.

In a post on X, Copper said XRPL has already demonstrated its ability to support tokenized assets at scale and is now evolving to better handle global payments, trading, collateralization, and settlement. She described the proposed amendments as a major step toward expanding institutional blockchain adoption.

One of the key features is Confidential MPT, which introduces native privacy for Multi-Purpose Tokens using elliptic-curve encryption and zero-knowledge proofs. The amendment enables issuers and token holders to keep balances and transaction amounts private while still allowing authorized entities, such as auditors or regulators, to access the information when necessary. Copper noted that privacy is often a critical requirement for financial institutions using public blockchain infrastructure.

Another proposed amendment, Batch, enables multiple transactions across different accounts to be executed atomically within a single ledger. This functionality supports advanced financial processes, including delivery-versus-payment (DvP) and atomic settlement.

The Permission Delegation amendment allows institutions to assign limited transaction permissions without surrendering control of signing keys. This gives treasury teams greater operational flexibility while maintaining security over sensitive issuance accounts.

Meanwhile, Sponsored Fees and Reserves lets banks, issuers, or platforms cover XRP transaction fees and account reserve requirements for users. According to Copper, this removes a major onboarding obstacle by eliminating the need for every participant to first acquire and manage XRP while preserving full ownership of their accounts and private keys.

The fifth proposal, Dynamic MPT, allows issuers to modify specific token properties after issuance, including transfer fees, metadata, and other predefined settings, without creating a new token.

Copper also reminded validator operators to review the amendments as they become available, emphasizing that each feature will only be activated after achieving the required validator consensus. The announcement follows the successful activation of the fix_Cleanup3.2.0 amendment on July 29, which secured more than 85% validator support.
