DEX Volume Hits $17 Billion as Solana Memecoins Drive Trading Surge

Decentralized exchanges recorded $17 billion in daily volume as Solana-based memecoins led a surge in speculative trading and on-chain activity.

Decentralized exchange activity surged over the past 24 hours, with aggregate DEX volume reaching roughly $17.04 billion and total transactions climbing to about 35.19 million—figures that underscore how quickly liquidity and speculation can concentrate around small-cap tokens when on-chain momentum turns.

Data from DEX Screener, captured at 9:02 a.m. KST on July 23 (July 22, 8:02 p.m. ET), showed the top trending trading pair was Jimothy the Raccoon (Jimothy) against Solana (SOL). The token changed hands around $0.03776, up 44% over 24 hours, as traders piled into the SOL-based pair.

Second on the trending list was Bear on Pol (BOP) versus Solana (SOL), quoted near $0.004320 after a reported 13,530% spike over the same period—an outsized move consistent with thin liquidity conditions that can amplify price swings on DEX venues. The third-most trending pair was The GameStop Bull (GMEBULL) against Solana (SOL), up 18% to approximately $0.001749.

Among the biggest movers, Bonk (Bonk) versus MET posted the sharpest gain, rising about 494,000% in 24 hours. PUMP (PUMP) versus MET followed with a 469,000% jump, while Bear on Pol (BOP) versus Solana (SOL) was also listed among top gainers with a 2,110% increase. Such explosive percentage moves typically reflect a combination of low starting prices, viral attention, and rapid turnover by short-term traders rather than broad-based market repricing.

On the downside, Index (Index) versus USDG fell 45% over 24 hours, while Index (Index) versus Ethereum (ETH) dropped by a similar 45%. The Great Squeeze (SQUEEZE) versus Wrapped Ether (WETH) declined 41%, highlighting how quickly capital can rotate away from underperforming pools even as overall on-chain activity remains elevated.

By trading volume, the top three pairs were Jupiter (JUP) versus MET at about $1.7 billion, Bonk (Bonk) versus MET at roughly $1.24 billion, and PUMP (PUMP) versus MET at around $273.4 million. The concentration at the top suggests that while many tokens can trend, a smaller number of pairs often dominate actual capital flow.

In transaction count, the most active pair was Longinus (LGNS) versus DAI, with approximately 723,050 transactions. It was followed by BatCat (BatCat) versus Solana (SOL) with about 148,939 transactions, and Lorenzo Governance Token (BANK) versus WBNB with roughly 141,297 transactions—an indication that retail-sized trade sizes can drive high on-chain throughput even when volume leadership sits elsewhere.

Overall, the latest snapshot points to a market environment where 'liquidity inflow' remains highly tactical and attention-driven, with SOL pairs and MET-quoted pools capturing much of the day’s heat. While headline-grabbing percentage gains can attract new participants, the same structure that enables rapid upside on DEXs can also accelerate drawdowns, making shifting flows a key signal to watch across on-chain venues.

{"Market Interpretation":["DEX volume rose to ~$17.04B with ~35.19M transactions in 24h, indicating a spike in on-chain speculative activity.","SOL-quoted pairs led trending attention (Jimothy/SOL, BOP/SOL, GMEBULL/SOL), pointing to Solana as a key momentum venue.","Massive percentage gains (e.g., Bonk/MET +494,000%, PUMP/MET +469,000%) likely reflect thin liquidity, low base prices, and viral flows rather than broad repricing.","Actual capital concentration favored a few high-volume pairs—JUP/MET (~$1.7B), Bonk/MET (~$1.24B), PUMP/MET (~$273.4M).","Sharp declines (Index pairs ~-45%, SQUEEZE/WETH -41%) highlight fast liquidity exits and elevated rotation risk."],"Strategic Points":["Validate “trending” tokens with volume and liquidity depth before extrapolating market significance.","Treat extreme 24h % movers as high-risk liquidity events; size positions accordingly and plan exits.","Monitor SOL and MET quote-asset hubs to track where liquidity is clustering or leaving.","Use transaction count as a retail heat metric (e.g., LGNS/DAI ~723k tx) while watching for reversal risk.","Watch losers alongside winners to detect rotation and changes in risk appetite early."],"Glossary":["DEX: Decentralized exchange enabling on-chain swaps via smart contracts.","Liquidity pool: AMM reserves used to facilitate trades; low depth increases volatility and slippage.","Thin liquidity: Shallow pool depth where modest trades can cause outsized price moves.","Volume: Total traded value over a period; indicates where capital is flowing.","Transaction count: Number of swaps; can be high even when average trade size is small.","Quote asset: Asset used to denominate price in a pair (e.g., SOL, MET, WETH).","WETH: Wrapped Ether (ERC-20) used in DeFi for interoperability.","Capital rotation: Rapid movement of liquidity between pools/tokens driven by short-term momentum."]}
