Lombard Systems has raised a $4 million seed round as it offers institutions a way to use tokenized securities and digital assets as collateral without moving them from securities accounts.

Ethereal Ventures led the financing. ALPS Capital, First Commit, Veris Ventures and ATKA also participated. The company was previously known as SemiLiquid.

Lombard Systems maintains the DvL standard. It lets banks, brokers and transfer agents accept tokenized securities and digital assets as collateral while the assets remain locked in existing securities accounts under their owners’ names. A cryptographically signed credit credential documents the lender’s enforceable security interest.
