Advanced Micro Devices posted $13.4 billion in third-quarter revenue, as data-center sales nearly doubled year over year and led the company’s reported businesses by revenue. Total revenue rose 45% from a year earlier and 16% from the second quarter. GAAP net income was $2.4 billion, up 95%, while non-GAAP earnings per share reached $2.09, a 74% increase.

Data-center revenue set a record at $8.5 billion, up 97% year over year. Client and gaming revenue totaled $3.7 billion, down 8%; embedded revenue was $1.1 billion, up 29%. Its 97% increase outpaced AMD’s 45% companywide rate, while client and gaming declined and embedded grew.

For the fourth quarter, AMD forecast revenue of about $17 billion, with a 3% range above or below that figure, and projected a non-GAAP gross margin of about 55% for the quarter.
