MoneyGram is joining XDC Network as an institutional validator, giving the payments company a direct role in maintaining a blockchain designed for payments and tokenized assets.

The Oct. 15 announcement places MoneyGram among XDC Network’s listed infrastructure operators. Its validator role involves confirming transactions and helping secure the network, which also supports trade finance applications.

“By joining XDC Network as a validator, we're contributing directly to the infrastructure supporting the network,” MoneyGram Chief Product and Technology Officer Luke Tuttle said. XDC requires masternode operators to complete identity checks and stake at least 10 million XDC tokens per node.

The XDC move adds to MoneyGram’s work on other blockchains. It became an active Solana validator in June and was named Tempo’s anchor remittance validator in May. MoneyGram launched its U.S. dollar stablecoin, MGUSD, in June, initially issuing it on Stellar. Those roles and the stablecoin span separate networks.
