Coinbase has expanded its partnership with Webull into Canada, providing the infrastructure needed to support crypto trading and custody services for Canadian investors. The agreement extends an existing collaboration between the two companies covering the United States, Brazil and Australia.

Webull Canada will integrate Coinbase’s Crypto-as-a-Service platform, giving customers access to digital asset trading backed by institutional-grade custody. Webull will also tap Coinbase’s liquidity and crypto infrastructure while keeping the investment experience within its own platform.

The expansion comes as cryptocurrency adoption rises among Canadian investors. An Ontario Securities Commission survey found that crypto ownership among investors in Canada has climbed to 25%, compared with 10% in 2023.

Webull Canada CEO Michael Constantino said digital assets are becoming an increasingly important part of the investment options customers expect. He said Coinbase provides the scale and reliability required for Webull to expand its crypto offering.

Webull Canada Crypto Limited is regulated as an investment dealer by the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization and provides order-execution-only cryptocurrency trading. The company is also a member of the Canadian Investor Protection Fund, although CIPF coverage does not extend to crypto assets.

Coinbase, meanwhile, continues to broaden its services beyond traditional cryptocurrency trading. The exchange is introducing nearly 4,000 U.S. stocks to eligible UK customers through 24/5 trading, including fractional shares, zero-commission transactions and funding with British pounds or USDC.

The company is also expanding into tokenized assets and derivatives. Coinbase-owned Deribit plans to introduce perpetual contracts tied to stocks including Strategy and Robinhood. Chainlink is providing pricing infrastructure for applications on Base that integrate Coinbase Tokenized Stocks, including tokenized versions of Nvidia, Meta, Apple and Alphabet shares.

Coinbase has also strengthened its European regulatory presence after securing a Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) license in Luxembourg. The authorization enables Coinbase to offer regulated crypto products and services throughout all 27 European Union member states.

The Webull Canada agreement further strengthens Coinbase’s position as a global crypto infrastructure provider as demand for regulated digital asset trading continues to grow.
