TokenPost announces soft launch of TokenPost Japan

Thu, 30 Jan 2020, 08:52 am UTC

TokenPost, a leading blockchain and crypto-focused media outlet, is excited to announce the soft launch of TokenPost Japan Edition.

The company rolled out TokenPost Korea Edition back in 2017, followed by the International Edition in 2018. It believes that the Japanese language edition will help it to further fortify its presence in Asia.

Japan is counted among one of the most advanced and digitally savvy countries in the world. According to the International Telecommunication Union, 93.3 percent of the country’s population (around 127 million) had access to the internet in 2018. Japan has been a leader in electronic money for two decades and is pathing the way in cryptocurrency and digital asset regulation.

“After TokenPost Korea Edition and TokenPost International Edition, launching a Japanese language edition was a natural choice for us,” said Sonny Kwon, CEO of TokenPost. “We look forward to bringing upbeat blockchain and cryptocurrency-related news and trends to people in Japan.”

TokenPost Japan Edition will be headed by Richard Northcott. An industry veteran with over 25 years of experience in developing software for Asian languages, Northcott founded Enfour in 1994, English Channel in 2013, SEN.io in 2017, and Micronize in June this year. He has been based in Tokyo since 1986.

“Through TokenPost Japan we will bring all the latest news as Japan drives ahead with regulatory modernization. This is the year when crypto and fiat payment channels will merge and digital assets go mainstream in Japan,” said Northcott.

In March 2018, TokenPost became the first newspaper to launch its own cryptocurrency. Dubbed NEWS, the token was initially employed to incentivize participation in events and national surveys. In the long run, it is intended to reward readers of TokenPost for things like creating an account, reading articles, and leaving comments.
