Opera, a web browser for Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems, has announced that the crypto wallet functionality will soon be available on iOS.

The company introduced the Crypto Wallet to the Opera browser for Android in December 2018. In an announcement dated March 05, Opera said:

“After the success of our Crypto Wallet and Dapp explorer in Opera for Android, we have decided to open Opera Touch for iOS to Web 3. We are taking this step in response to popular demand from the Ethereum community.”

Web 3 is an umbrella term for a set of emerging technologies (cryptos, blockchain, distributed systems) which will extend the capabilities of the web.

Opera’s new browser, called Opera Touch, features a fast web search interface and is designed to make it easy to browse with only one hand. The company said that Opera Touch for iOS will combine easy-to-use Crypto Wallet functionality with support for Ethereum decentralized apps (Dapps).

“iOS users around the globe will soon gain access to a beautifully-designed, full-featured browser with an integrated native Crypto Wallet and Web 3 browsing functionalities,” the post reads.

Opera said that introducing Web 3 functionalities to the iOS browser is aligned with its plan to eliminate the obstacles preventing mainstream Web 3 adoption.

Last month, Opera announced integration with Safello’s brokerage for a safe and easy crypto wallet top up, allowing users to easily buy cryptocurrencies on their mobile phones.
