Leading web browser Opera has entered into a partnership with Ledger Capital, a blockchain advisory and financial services firm, to further support its blockchain technology initiative.
Under this partnership, the companies intend to explore further applications and use-cases of the blockchain technology as well as growth opportunities that could be applied to Opera products.
In July, Opera became the first major mobile browser to add a built-in crypto wallet and Web 3.0 support. The following month it launched its desktop web browser with a built-in crypto wallet with Ethereum support. Opera said that it aims to facilitate the mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies.
“Having a crypto wallet in the browser brings the cash experience to the world of online payments,” said Charles Hamel, Product Lead of Opera’s crypto wallet. “Paying with the crypto wallet is like sending digital cash straight from your phone, and we’ve just made it easier. This opens up new possibilities for merchants and content creators alike.”
Founded in 2018, Ledger Capital provides strategic, technological and financial advisory services to various blockchain infrastructures, decentralized applications, multinational corporations and to government-backed projects and initiatives.

We are looking forward to exploring the next steps in how Opera will leverage its massive ecosystem and technical competencies to create exponential value for its user base and the greater blockchain space”.
