Enterprise Ethereum Alliance to launch token task force in 2019

The Enterprise Ethereum Alliance (EEA), a member-driven, standards organization focused on the Ethereum blockchain, is planning to launch a token task force this year, Cointelegraph reported.

Ron Resnick, the executive director of the EEA, said that the task force is currently in the design stage and expected to launch in the first half of 2019.

“We are creating a token task force; we will do that first half of this year,” Resnick said. “It’s going to be focused on support for fungible ERC-20 and non-fungible, ERC-721 tokens.”

Resnick further said that the initiative is expected to contribute to enterprise tokenization and boost public confidence in cryptocurrencies. The task force, among other things, would also focus on addressing the interoperability issue between different blockchains.

This week, the EEA opened its regional office in China and appointed Dr. Weijia Zhang, Wanchain’s vice president of engineering, as its Regional Head.

In October 2018, the EEA and Hyperledger, an open source collaborative effort advancing cross-industry blockchain technologies, announced that they have joined each other’s organizations as Associate Members.
