Croatian Post, the national postal operator of the Republic of Croatia, has announced a pilot project to allow domestic and foreign cryptocurrency users to exchange their crypto coins.

The pilot project will be launched in collaboration with bitcoin exchange operator Electrocoin. Croatian Post, which has a network of 1,016 post offices around the country, will run the pilot phase in three offices.

These crypto post office exchanges will be located in the popular tourist town of Zadar, the press release discussing the new initiative reads. The post also notes that the project will initially support just five crypto coins, namely; Bitcoin, Ethereum, Stellar, Ripple, and EOS.

“Digitalization is one of the Croatian postal development strategies and a driver of numerous business projects. Entering the Digital Currency Market Croatian Post confirms its position as one of the leaders in digital transformation,” the post reads after translation.

Opening the project in Zadar is ideal since it is a dense area where a wide variety of people traipse through. Foreigners come around for the tourism business while the local populace is able to interact with outside influences. With the help of crypto coins, the options for payments and trade expand, thus explaining why opening three exchange offices in the place make the most sense.

Croatian Post said that it aims to offer the possibility of exchanging cryptocurrencies in all major settlements and tourist centers in Croatia.
