Amazon wants to place advertising data on blockchain, looks for new software engineer for the task

Internet retail giant Amazon wants to hire a software engineer that will place advertising data on blockchain, according to a job offer it posted on LinkedIn.

As per its posting, the company is looking for a software development engineer for its Colorado team that will work on an advertisement blockchain, as it aims to grow its advertisement business by leveraging its online retail data, industry-leading cloud services, and a fast-moving startup ecosystem.

Our new team in Boulder, CO is looking for a Sr Software Engineer to work without our Advertising FinTech team focused on a Blockchain ledger, billing and reconciliation systems to provide data transparency on transnational financial data.”

The chosen applicant will be involved in requirements analysis, lead design, implementation and deployment of core components, interface with engineers and program managers, and operation support and maintenance of the systems.

It further noted that the engineer will be given a chance to “define the technical and architectural roadmap of the systems” and “own and drive initiatives through the entire software stack – from customer facing features, to exploratory innovation, all the way down to the datasets that the back-end services store.”

While it outlined some basic qualifications, candidates with professional experience in software development, FinTech, advertising, and blockchain technology are preferred.

Meanwhile, Amazon and 19 other big household names like Deloitte and Fidelity have recently partnered with IDEO’s venture arm IDEO CoLab Ventures to launch a blockchain accelerator called Startup Studio. The collaboration will see Amazon offer workshops on building and deploying the Amazon Web Service (AWS) infrastructure.
