Venezuelan government launches crypto calculator for Android devices

The Superintendent of Cryptoactive and related activities of Venezuela (SUNACRIP) has launched an application that allows users to convert crypto-crypto, crypto-fiat and fiat-crypto values, according to state-run VTV.

Called “Petro Calculadora,” the app is currently available only for Android devices and can be downloaded from the https://www.petro.gob.ve/ portal. It currently supports four cryptocurrencies, including Petro PTR , Bitcoin BTC, Litecoin LTC, and Dash, and three fiat currencies – US dollar, euro and Bolivar.

Users just need to enter the amount they need to convert in the currency of origin and would be able to view the equivalent amount in other currencies.

The app can be downloaded by anyone and does not require any type of registration by users. This means that users don’t need to disclose any personal information for using the petro calculator.

“The Fiat values ​​are updated daily at 7:00 am - based on those issued by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) - and the Crypto values ​​are updated every minute,” VTV said citing a Sunacrip press release.

Last month, the government announced that its cryptocurrency-based remittance platform, called “Patria Remesas,” is fully operational. The platform will allow citizens working abroad to send money to Venezuela.

The government has also launched a payment gateway service, called “Petro Pago,” which, it says, is a safe, reliable and flexible way to pay and receive payments in Petro.
