The adoption of crypto and digital payments continues in Ukraine amidst its ongoing war against Russia. This time, pharmacies in the country are embracing digital options with a major chain now accepting digital currencies such as Bitcoin (BTC).

ANC Pharmacy has entered into a partnership with Binance Ukraine to avail of its contactless crypto payment service Binance Pay. This arrangement made it possible for ANC, one of the largest pharmacy chains in Ukraine, to accept payments in crypto such as Bitcoin, according to Cointelegraph.

In an official announcement on January 3, 2023, ANC Pharmacy is now giving customers the option to use instant payments when buying pharmacy products online. The chain runs its own online pharmacy service aside from the more than 1,000 pharmacies it operates across Ukraine.

The acceptance of Binance Pay payments will be initially made available in Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital. The crypto payments option will be rolled out in both ANC pharmacies and ANC Pharmacy-operated stores such as Kopiyka and Shara. “ANC, Kopiyka, and Shara are the first pharmacies in Europe to accept crypto,” the company said in its announcement.

Customers will first need to download the Binance app so they can use the crypto payment option. Then they need to access ANC’s website, choose the products they want to purchase online, indicate a preferred location where they intend to pick up their orders, and proceed to pay using Binance Pay.

Binance, the largest crypto exchange by trading volume, has been actively expanding its presence in Ukraine in recent years. Binance into a partnership with supermarket chain Varus in September 2022, which allowed the chain’s customers to use the Binance Pay Wallet to pay for their purchases.

In early February last year, Binance Ukraine’s general manager, Kirill Khomyakov, told Cointelegraph that launching a Binance Card in Ukraine is one of its top priorities for 2022.
