R.A.C. and Goldroom’s new record label to distribute music on Ethereum blockchain

André Allen Anjos (R.A.C.), a Grammy-winning DJ and record producer, has teamed up with DJ and producer Josh Legg (Goldroom) to launch a new record label, Minerva Music, which will distribute all of its music on Ethereum blockchain, Billboard reported.


This, however, is not the first foray into the blockchain space for R.A.C. Back in 2017, his album, EGO, became the first full-length release to be distributed on the Ethereum blockchain.

Minerva will be releasing music from emerging artists including Metsā, Chela, Nolan Garrett and NASAYA, who will provide the imprint's first release on May 8.

"Our goals are to give artists a higher level of autonomy, more separation from the traditional music industry, and ultimately insure that the way they are paid is as streamlined as possible," Anjos adds.

The newly launched record label will be collaborating with tech startups, Stem and Ujo Music, in order to “execute flexible deal structures in a way that was impossible a decade ago," Legg said.

Stem is a payment distribution platform for online music creators. It tracks and organizes revenue streams for artists and labels and makes it easy to collect and split earnings from Apple, Spotify, Amazon, YouTube & more.

"Remixers are too often left out of the financial upside when a track does well, simply because of the accounting headaches. It’s especially unfortunate because it’s often the remix that breaks through and gives the original track momentum. We are thrilled to empower Minerva with the flexibility they need to make these types of deals work and give everyone a piece of the upside,” says Milana Rabkin Lewis, CEO and founder of Stem.

Ujo Music is an Ethereum based, ConsenSys backed music software services company. It aims to facilitate friction-less transactions between seller and consumer. In 2015, Imogen Heap used Ujo’s platform to release her track "Tiny Human" while R.A.C. used it to build his own webstore, where he sold ‘EGO’ using ether (ETH).
