Liverpool FC to partner with TRON

Wed, 24 Apr 2019, 10:45 am UTC

Liverpool Football Club has entered into a partnership with decentralized internet protocol TRON.

Justin Sun, CEO and Founder of the Tron Foundation, made the announcement in a tweet today. The tweet features a video which shows an official invitation from Liverpool FC for an official partnership:

The details of the partnership have not been disclosed yet.

Founded in 1892, Liverpool FC is one of the world's most legendary football clubs having won eighteen League Titles, seven FA Cups, eight League Cups, five European Cups, three UEFA Cups, three European Super Cups and fifteen Charity Shields.

In September 2018, Liverpool FC announced fintech company TigerWit as its new official online foreign exchange trading partner.

TRON’s native token TRX is currently the eleventh largest cryptocurrency by market cap and trading at $0.023 at the time of writing.

Update: Liverpool FC has denied its partnership with TRON. A spokesperson at the football club told Decrypt:

“Liverpool Football Club has confirmed that it does not have a partnership with Tron.”

The spokesperson further clarified that Sun possibly misunderstood an informal invitation recently sent to many companies, to “better understand” their business.
