Johnny Depp is the latest addition to the growing list of Hollywood celebrities that are teaming up with blockchain and crypto-related projects.

According to a recent report from The Hollywood Reporter, Depp has inked a deal with TaTaTu, a blockchain-powered social entertainment platform founded by Andrea Iervolino, a Hollywood film producer and co-founder and CEO of AMBI Media Group.

Under the agreement, the parties will team up to develop and produce film and digital content. Depp will work via his Infinitum Nihil production banner and Iervolino will work via TaTaTu.

“In this era of democratized entertainment, I admire the imaginative ethos of Andrea and look forward to collaborating together in a liberating, progressive manner that will befit the principals of our respective entities,” Depp said.

The collaboration between Depp and Iervolino started with “Waiting for the Barbarians” – the adaptation of the J.M. Coetzee award-winning novel, which is expected to go on the floors soon. The drama is being produced by AMBI and will feature Depp, Mark Rylance, and Robert Pattinson. TaTaTu, which closed a $575 million token pre-sale this summer, is also coming on board.

“Johnny has the ability to conceptualize material in a way that few can, and is unburdened of conventional industry formulas that dictate the projects that get made, traditionally,” Iervolino said. “As we make strides to embrace disruptiveness, Johnny will be a key collaborator with us and we are tremendously excited to back his visions and instincts on stories to bring to life.”

Earlier this year, Hollywood actor and venture capitalist Ashton Kutcher announced a $4 million donation in XRP to American talk show host Ellen DeGeneres’s Wildlife Fund on the behalf of Ripple. Kutcher is also an investor in bitcoin payment processor BitPay. In the past, Jamie Foxx and rapper DJ Khaled have endorsed ICO of Cobinhood and Centra respectively. Actress Gwyneth Paltrow last year joined crypto wallet startup Abra as an advisor.
