Google restores MetaMask crypto wallet app on Android app store

Ethereum browser extension and wallet service MetaMask has announced that Google has restored its mobile app on Google Play.

Google had suspended MetaMask’s Android client from its Google Play App Store last month, citing their policy that bans mining on mobile. MetaMask had said at the time that they do not offer mining on mobile and added that their appeal was rejected by the search engine giant.

“If left banned, we will be working on other ways of bringing our services to users still stranded on the @Android platform while they migrate to something more free. The story will not stop here, and it certainly won't stop with the Goliath winning,” MetaMask had said.

However, Google now seems to have reversed its decision, allowing MetaMask mobile app back on the Google Play App Store.

Meanwhile, a MetaMask contributor recently alleged that MetaMask was not being adequately supported by its parent firm ConsenSys, Cointelegraph reported. The contributor went on to say that the MetaMask team’s workflow was neither transparent nor decentralized, adding that the project’s code was “of low quality, full of technical debt.”

MetaMask employee Daniel Finlay responded to the allegations saying that MetaMask was “incredibly grateful to ConsenSys and Joe [Lubin]” for their support. Finlay, however, agreed to some of the contributor’s allegations, in particular, the remarks about the project’s code.

Also, crypto influencers on YouTube started claiming late last month that the online video streaming giant was deleting crypto-related content from its platform, Cointelegraph reported. However, within a few days, YouTube admitted to the error on its part and started reinstating crypto-related videos.
