Crypto exchange Gemini has announced the appointment of Jeanine Hightower-Sellitto as the new Managing Director of Operations.
Jeanine previously served as the Chief Operating Officer at the International Securities Exchange (ISE), which was later acquired by NASDAQ. During her 13-year stint at ISE, she held multiple leadership positions in business development, product management, and relationship management.
The announcement comes as Gemini seeks to build “both a world-class marketplace and Client Services Team to help service our institutional customers and complement the efforts of our existing Customer Support Team.”
“Scaling a New York trust company in one of the fastest growing industries in the world carries with it unique challenges — challenges that Jeanine’s deep background in marketplaces and leading high-achieving operational teams will help us navigate as we sail the Gemini Spaceship towards the moon,” Cameron Winklevoss, Co-founder and President at Gemini, said.
Earlier this month, Gemini announced that it has secured insurance coverage for custodied digital assets that it holds on behalf its customers in its online hot wallet through a global consortium of industry-leading insurers and arranged by leading insurance firm Aon.
The company also recently received the approval from the NYDFS to offer stablecoin, pegged to the U. S. dollar.
In a separate announcement, Gemini said that it has partnered with Omniex, an institutional investment and trading platform for crypto-assets, in a bid to deliver high-performance infrastructure to support institutional investors.
“As our ecosystem continues to mature, it will be vital to work with firms that understand the intricacies of institutional operations, while delivering best-in-class technology that empowers investors,” Tyler Winklevoss, CEO of Gemini.
