Edinburgh-based Blockchain Technology Partners (BTP) announced the availability of DAML integration with the Amazon Quantum Ledger Database (Amazon QLDB) that is commercially supported by BTP’s Sextant for DAML on its blog.

BTP is a leading enterprise blockchain. It brings smart contracts and blockchain to business by providing the Sextant platform. On the other hand, Digital Asset helps companies across the industries both small and big get distributed applications to market faster and stay there longer.

Amazon QLDB is the third platform commercially supported by Sextant for DAML. Amazon QLDB is a fully managed ledger database that provides a transparent, immutable and cryptographically verifiable transaction log on Amazon Web Services (AWS). It is also the second AWS service that BTP integrated with DAML. The integration is perfect for customers who need an immutable ledger without decentralization.

“There are plenty of scenarios where there is a trusted centralised operator or a natural authority but there is still a requirement to ensure data is not tampered with,” said Kevin O’Donnell, Co-founder and CTO of BTP. “DAML on Amazon QLDB addresses these use cases combining the expressive power of DAML with the resilience of AWS.”

DAML is an open-source smart contract language for business created by Digital Asset for multi-party processes. It abstracts away the complexities of blockchains, distributed ledgers, and traditional databases by allowing developers to focus on the business logic of the applications while giving clients both the deployment flexibility and application portability.

“Businesses need to stay nimble to compete and thrive while also maintaining high standards of security and auditability. BTP’s Sextant for DAML with QLDB makes it seamless to run distributed applications without the operational overhead or compromising security,” added Shaul Kfir, co-founder and CTO of Digital Asset.

Meanwhile, in September, AWS announced the general availability of Amazon QLDB. Amazon QLDB is a fully managed service that provides a transparent, immutable, and cryptographically verifiable transaction log owned by a central trusted authority.
