Beowulf Blockchain Partners with Vietnam Medical Genetics Institute to Power Vietnam’s First Blockchain-based Human Genomic Data Platform

Tue, 22 Oct 2019, 03:23 am UTC

The decentralized communication network pioneer Beowulf Blockchain has announced a strategic partnership with Vietnam Medical Genetics Institute, to further strengthen the quality and scope of medical training and consultations via the innovative Victoria platform for long-distance counseling, as well as develop Vietnam’s first human genomic data on the blockchain.

Victoria is an innovative and modern instrument for distance learning, and has become an option of choice for educational institutions looking to invest in advanced technologies and deliver borderless knowledge exchange. Victoria has already been utilized by institutions such as the Vietnam National University’s School of Medicine, the country’s best higher education institution to offer distance teaching to medical students, and the National Taiwanese Normal University to teach Mandarin worldwide.

By adopting Victoria’s two-way interactive and collaborative video conferencing technology, Vietnam Medical Genetics Institute will be able to potentially increase its training scale and create a sufficient talent pool of human genomic/genetic counselors for Vietnam to serve its needs for decades to come.

As the human genomics industry is developing, this collaborative effort also aims to solve many of its pain points through the provision of an innovative solution for the storage, distribution and management of human genomics data, under the premise of a secure and reliable blockchain-based decentralized infrastructure. With this focus, the human genomic data will be publicly accessible, tradable, and transparent, while ensuring the privacy of the data owner is fully protected.

“Without blockchain technology, there is always the risk of data breaches. Leaked personal data can lead to devastating outcomes, such as manipulated medical records or discriminatory treatment from others due to exposed medical history. The implementation of Beowulf Blockchain will enable end users to have a layer of security protecting their personal data,” said Dr. Kiet Truong Dinh, President and Founder of Vietnam Medical Genetics Institute.

“Our mission is to revolutionize the global human genome data hub by efficiently managing the large human genomic database,” said Dr. William H. Nguyen, CEO of Beowulf Blockchain. “By enabling decentralized human genomic data storage, Beowulf Blockchain is breaking the silos of the information industry, and providing human genomic research industry partners with enterprise-level blockchain infrastructure, industry solutions, and secure, reliable, and flexible blockchain services.”

About Beowulf Blockchain

Beowulf is a B2B platform providing communication services with infinite scalability across the globe. Its technology encompasses a comprehensive suite that handles various communication functions (voice/video calling, messaging) from front-end to back-end infrastructure, with enterprises paying per minute-of-usage; a decentralized distance learning platform named Victoria; and HANA, an innovative telemedicine system. QUICKOM is a US patent-pending platform by Beowulf that represents a monumental leap forward in corporate and personal communication in the digital age. It provides a customizable and anonymous QR code call service that replaces phone numbers with scannable QR codes.

About Vietnam Medical Genetics Institute

The Vietnam Medical Genetics Institute was founded by Prof. Kiet Truong Dinh, M.D., former vice-president of the Ho Chi Minh University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Vietnam, and his colleagues in 2016 as a place for aspiring Vietnamese scientists to do advanced research into the human genome right from their home country. The Vietnam Medical Genetics Institute provides extensive genetic services, both clinical and laboratory, and multi-disciplinary genetic counseling for patients across Vietnam.
