American National Standards Institute to discuss AI and blockchain at World Standards Week 2018

Tue, 18 Sep 2018, 06:36 am UTC

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is going to discuss blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) during World Standards Week (WSW) 2018, to be held October 15–19 in Washington, DC.

The topics will be discussed as part of ANSI’s Legal Issues and Joint Member Forums.

The ANSI is a U.S.-based private non-profit that oversees the creation, promulgation and use of thousands of norms and guidelines that directly impact businesses in nearly every sector. It is also actively engaged in accreditation – assessing the competence of organizations determining conformance to standards.

WSW is the standardization community’s premier annual gathering, with multiple conferences, committee meetings, and special events designed to inspire open dialogue about standardization and conformity assessment.

“The 2018 ANSI Joint Member Forum, “Empowered by Innovation: Cutting-Edge Technologies Driving Real-World Solutions,” will explore concrete applications of two of the most transformative technologies propelling organizational/business advancement today: blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI),” the announcement reads.

Expert panelists from various industries, including healthcare, ITC, transportation, shipping, food safety, and government, will share insights on real-world applications of these emerging technologies. In addition, standardization leaders will offer perspectives on how standards and conformity assessment can help drive deployment and further innovation.
