12 crypto billionaires make it to Forbes’ annual ranking of the world’s wealthiest

The number of crypto billionaires on the 2021 Forbes world's billionaires list is up three times compared to last year.

The crypto market rally, which saw Bitcoin (BTC) set a new all-time high above $61,000, has made tons of money for investors in digital currencies. In fact, 12 billionaires that work directly within the crypto industry have now joined Forbes’ annual ranking of the world’s wealthiest individuals.

There are now 12 billionaires from the crypto industry that are included in the Forbes World’s Billionaires List, according to Bitcoin.com. The number is up three times from last year’s list, which only had four crypto billionaires.

Sam Bankman-Fried is the world’s wealthiest crypto billionaire. According to Forbes, the FTX Exchange CEO has a net worth of $8.7 billion and is ranked 274th on the billionaires' list.

Meanwhile, Brian Armstrong is the second wealthiest crypto billionaire. The Coinbase CEO has a net worth of around $6.5 billion and is the 404th in Forbes’ ranking.

Chris Larsen’s net worth is estimated by Forbes to be around $3.4 billion. The Ripple Labs cofounder occupies the 891st spot on the rankings.

Cameron Winklevoss and Tyler Winklevoss are estimated to be worth $3 billion each, which means their net worth is $6 billion combined. The twins are both ranked 1008th on the Forbes list.

MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor is ranked 1632nd on the Forbes list with his $2.3 fortune. His firm is known for its massive holdings in Bitcoin, the world’s largest crypto by market cap.

Another Ripple co-founder, Jed McCaleb, is also included in the Forbes ranking. McCaleb’s net worth is estimated to be $2 billion, enough to land him on the 1580th spot on the list.

Coinbase co-founder Fred Ersham and Binance CEO ChangPeng Zhao are both ranked 1664th. Forbes estimated their net worth to around be $1.9 billion each.

Barry Silbert comes next with a net worth valued at $1.6 billion. The founder and CEO of Digital Currency Group occupied the 1931st spot in the Forbes ranking.

Venture capitalist Tim Draper is ranked 2035th with a net worth of $1.5 billion. He shares the same ranking with Bloq Inc. co-founder and chairman Matthew Roszak who is also worth $1.5 billion.
